Academic Success and Empowerment Through Tutoring and Mentorship Services
We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between Lawyers for the People and Recycled Disciples (RD). Lawyers for the People is a non-profit legal firm committed to providing accessible and affordable legal services to all, while RD is a tutoring and mentoring organization founded by Washington, D.C. natives and DCPS graduates who are dedicated to working with D.C. youth. With this partnership, we aim to provide comprehensive support and resources to the youth of Washington, D.C., combining legal expertise and community outreach efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Tutoring services offered by Recycled Disciples and Lawyers for the People (L4P) can increase academic success, subject comprehension, and intrinsic motivation to succeed for youth.
Tutoring provides individualized direct intervention that is not available in overpopulated classrooms.
L4P tutors are experienced and certified in various areas, including therapeutic crisis intervention and restorative justice.
Tutoring services will be provided at preferred locations in Washington, D.C. and L4P tutors have extensive expertise working with at-risk youth.
Tutors will work with youth's case manager, family and youth to set SMART academic goals and will maintain daily notes and weekly/monthly progress reports.
Tutoring program also addresses communication, adaptive, and vocational skills and provides an arts-based approach.
Program will be evaluated through a formative evaluation, such as a capstone project, to assess effectiveness.
Mentorship services offered by L4P can provide benefits for both mentee and mentor, including increased academic retention and better lifestyle choices.
